program aligned academic research capabilities in IC design with the industry's advanced 7-nm process technology and completed the EDA Cloud 2.0 design platform. Through global industryacademia collaboration, the program successfully recruited over 300 international professionals to join the semiconductor industry. ● Net-Zero Science and Technology Program Significant research achievements were made in five critical domains: Sustainable Energy, Decarbonization, Carbon Removal, the Circular Economy, and the Humanities/Social Sciences. Major technological breakthroughs included the successful development of perovskite/silicon PV cells with a conversion efficiency of 30% and advanced waste plastic pyrolysis technology, enabling the recycling of 650,000 metric tons of waste plastic into circular light oil. Novel carbon-capture technologies were also piloted, enhancing lowcarbon energy efficiency by 50%. To support decarbonization in industry, the program assisted manufacturers in improving energy efficiency by 17% (eight times the national average), with the derived economic benefits equaling five times the budget for R&D investment. Furthermore, the ecosystem has been strengthened through the completion of four major resource-circularity platforms, with the Inorganic Resources Platform notably integrating 23 government agencies. By 2024, the cumulative issuance of renewable energy certificates (T-RECs) reached 7.25 million, and 14,472 organizations supported the Green Office initiative, demonstrating effective public-private collaboration. Highlights of Achievements in 2024 Organized into four categories, namely, “Smart Technology,” “The Innovation Economy,” “A Balanced Society,” and “Net-Zero Sustainability,” and 15 subtopics, a total of 24 standout projects were selected to represent Taiwan's scientific research achievements in 2024.
